Il y a quelques temps, j’ai commencé à me sentir un peu frustrée dans mes photos par rapport à la vaisselle que j’utilisais. J’avais envie que celle-ci soit vraiment en osmose avec la recette et l’ambiance que je voulais donner à la photo et à la mise en scène. Et c’est comme ça que je me suis mise à peindre ma vaisselle. Il faut dire que j’ai un maman qui peint sur la porcelaine depuis très longtemps et qui est parfaitement équipée en peintures, pigments et surtout un vrai four spécialisé qui chauffe jusqu’à 1 500°C !
C’est donc avec beaucoup d’émotions, que j’ouvre ma modeste boutique esty, Asleep from Day. Les connaisseurs auront sans doute reconnu le titre d’une chanson des Chemical Brothers, celle qui illustrait la pub Air France pendant un moment. C’est une musique que j’adore particulièrement, je la trouve à la fois berçante et inspirante. Allez savoir pourquoi !
Donc dans cette boutique, on y trouve quoi ? Et bien pour le moment, on va y trouver surtout de la porcelaine. Cette porcelaine a été peinte à la main avec des pigments dilués dans du medium et chauffée à 830°C ce qui fait que la peinture s’est incrustée dans l’émail. Le dessin est donc solide. Néanmoins, évitez d’utiliser des produits abrasifs sous peine de voir le motif s’abimer. De plus, pour la collection triangles, j’ai utilisé de l’or, ce qui fait que cela ne passe pas au micro-onde et que le lave-vaisselle est fortement à déconseiller !

Some time ago, I began feeling kind of frustrated with my pictures because of the dishes I used. I really wanted my dishes to be in total communion with the recipe and the mood I wanted to convey in the pictures and the setting. And that’s how I began to paint my own china. The thing you have to know is that my mum has been painting on china for a very long time and is perfectly well equipped in paint, pigments and best of all, she has an oven going up to 1,500°C, specially designed for china painting.
Therefore, it is with great emotion that I present you my humble Etsy shop, Asleep From Day. Connoisseurs will have recognised the title of a Chemical Brothers’ song, which illustrated a televised ad for Air France for a time. It’s a song I particularly like, I find it both inspiring and lulling… Go figure why!
So, what can you find in the shop? For now, you will mostly find china. It has been hand painted, using pigments diluted in medium and heated up at 830°C, which allows the paint to inlay in the china’s enamel. The design is therefore pretty resistant. However try not to use abrasive products, otherwise the pattern might be damaged. Furthermore, for the triangle collection, I used gold so don’t use it in the microwave, and avoid the dishwasher!
